World Silent Day Campaign by Adgi and Bali Creative Community via International Poster Exhibition

Nov 10, 10 World Silent Day Campaign by Adgi and Bali Creative Community via International Poster Exhibition

Press Release. The earth is increasingly unfriendly. The main cause is man’s ignorance in their uncontrollable life. Climate change and global warming are eroding the earth day by day resulting in catastrophes for human as the occupants of earth.

People have to learn from local wisdom and cultural traditions observed through Bali Nyepi Day during which for 24 hours the island stops producing  20,000 tons of CO2 and save electricity for Rp 5 billion.

The ecological dimension and the universal message of the Nyepi Day has inspired the idea for World Silent Day, which was first proposed before the participants of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC) in Bali in 2007 to invite mankind to save the world’s energy use and reduce exhaust emissions in their daily life. The campaign is coordinated by the nonprofit community, Bali Collaboration on Climate Change, which has been advocated to the public independently.

The Association of Indonesian Graphic Designers (Adgi) collaborates with Bali Creative Community as a community and professional associations that have professional and social responsibility. The two organizations take the initiative to participate in the effort to campaign for the World Silent Day through International Poster Exhibition featuring World Silent Day by making a series of exhibitions that began in 2010 in Bangkok, Bali and Jakarta.

The Association of Indonesian Graphic Designers (Adgi) with Bali Creative Community invites the best 80 designers of Indonesia and Asia to participate in designing the World Silent Day poster according to each designer’s versions as creative contributions in the form of visual and media communication campaigns for the success of the World Silent Day.

On November 20 to 30 for the first time this project will be exhibited at the Bangkok Art & Design Center in a series of events at Bangkok Design Festival 2010. According to Ayip, chairman of the Association of Indonesian Graphic Designers, “the exhibition also serves as an international network program of Adgi with BCC in promoting the  Indonesian designers in the global world, as well as to foster a sense of togetherness  through culture.”

Representing Bali Creative Community, Rudolf Dethu, states that the collaboration is very important in order to provide strong motivation to build solidarity through togetherness. World Silent Day campaign is expected to get supports from various parties in its efforts to build awareness regarding the urgency for us to protect the earth for the survival of mankind.
